Outfit of the day: Layered skirts

Outfit of the day: Layered skirtsfeatured

Red October is my new favourite photoshoot location in Moscow. We shot these on an unusually warm day with Natasha, and I just love the editing she did, she even somehow brushed my hair? Lol. Check her out, she does photoshoots, video, edits photos and is a pretty chill lady.

This backdrop just looks like Gotham or something out of Rear Window. Would be so fun to do a photoshoot in this building, but apparently it’s private property.

А это – ну просто Готэм или “Окно во двор“. Было бы круто сделать фотосессию в том здании сзади, но, кажется, там частная территория.

After writing about spring silhouettes, I decided to give the layered skirt trend a try. The dress is boxy and doesn’t pair well with a belt because of the heavy fabric. This leather skater skirt gave it some shape. I’m still not sure whether I like the look of it, but I will definitely experiment with skirt layering more.

  • Oh, there’s a skirt layering trend, i had no idea! Well for me, this is a trend with a Weight Limit, its definitely not for everyone. You carry it of! And I love these locations, I do styling work and getting a good location is always a pain when you dont have a massive budget…I’d love to do some shots here and create fantastic stories to go alongside them!

    • Yana

I see your point, but I actually found this kind of skirt layering pretty flattering. It creates the illusion of a smaller waist (which I dig :)) and conceals the heavier part of the hips.
And yes, hunting for location can be a pain, most times even a decent wall is hard to find. I used this place for several projects already, it is a blessing 🙂

  • I love the outfit on you, it looks great. The photos are incredible. And the setting! Love it. Especially the graphic novel/comic book mural blown up on the wall.

    • Yana

Thank you, Nikki! This place has incredible street art.

  • Totally stunning!

    • Yana

Thank you! I threw the fur on rushing out the door thinking it was too cold. It wasn’t, but the stole added an unexpected glamorous touch to an otherwise grungy look.

Thank you! The jacket is a new obsession of mine, best bargain from Bangkok’s Chatuchak market lol. I also really like the look of a pencil skirt over a flowy one, need to try it too 🙂
